You are invited to hear about the recent renascence in the research of psilocybin for the treatment of major depression disorder and other behavior problems.
CALPACS is excited to invite Dr. Robert Kargbo from the Usona Institute to share their journey from chemical synthesis to the recent Phase II clinical trial program with psilocybin. Dr. Kargbo has been instrumental in advancing this field through the optimization of the chemical synthesis of psilocybin and other psychedelic compounds. These discoveries enabled the large-scale manufacturing and formulation of active pharmaceutical ingredients to be fed into the clinical trials. Further, hear his experience, insight, and progression of other psychedelic drugs and their treatment for a variety of societal maladies.
Robert has collaborated on projects with industry and academic researchers in support of NIH National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke as part of the Medicinal Chemistry for Neuro-therapeutics Program (NINDA MCNP), is an editorial member for the American Chemical Society (ACS) Medicinal Chemistry Letters academic journal, and is a bi-monthly contributor to the Organic Process Research and Development (OPRD) Highlight publications. Robert has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious scientific journals and books, in addition to holding several patents. Robert has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Pfizer Global Research and Development Research Fellowship, the McNair Scholar Award, and the ND-EPSCoR, among others. He received his PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at North Dakota University, and has lectured at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Robert enjoys table tennis, biking, reading, and writing in his free time.
