Summer 2015 Announcement

Summer is upon us, and we would like to make a few announcements before we wish you a fun-filled and productive summer. We need candidates for our annual elections, and there are three chemistry meetings coming up in late summer and early fall.

Elections: Our annual elections for members of the Executive Committee of CALPACS are coming up in the fall season. We need candidates  for several three-year terms, and two one-year terms. The success of our section depends vitally on the participation of its members. Please consider volunteering to serve chemistry and the sciences. Your ideas could have a very large impact. Please use the contact form on our web site to express your interest, or contact Dr. Al Censullo, Chair of the Nominating Committee, directly.

Heterocyclic Chemistry Conference at UCSB, Aug. 23-28: The International Society of Heterocyclic Chemistry will hold its 25th meeting at UCSB. Please use their web site to find more information about the event and to register.

Western Regional Meeting Nov. 6-8, 2015: The Western Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society has been organized by the Orange County section, and it will take place on the campus of Cal State San Marcos. Please use the above link to get all the information on this event and to register. This is a terrific venue to explore the industrial and academic landscape of our region.

ACS National Meeting, Aug 16-20: The fall meeting of the American Chemical Society will take place in Boston. Please use this link to register for the event. Undergraduate students who plan to present results at ACS meetings are eligible for a travel grant from CALPACS. Please contact your campus ACS liaison for details. You can find your campus liaison here: http://www.lospadresacs.org/meetings/

Again, we wish everyone a healthy, fun-filled and productive summer, and we hope to see you at our next event, which will be our Fall Luncheon in September.
